LargeEdit Working with Large Files |
|---|
|
LargeEdit opens large files in read only mode by default, if you wish to edit a large file you must click "Open in Edit Mode" from the file menu. So what's considered a large file? Everyone seems to have their own definition of a large file so LargeEdit allows you to control the small file size limit. Any file over this limit will be treated as a large file, by default the limit is 7 MegaBytes. Another important option is the "Open small file in edit mode", by default this option is ON. When turned ON, files considered to be small will automatic be opened in edit mode. In order to efficiently open and edit large text files, LargeEdit using a forward only mechanism for reading and writing to files. LargeEdit allows you to view and edit one section of the file at a time, the number of lines displayed in a section is controlled by the "Line Fetch" value in the options dialog. LargeEdit now provides back-buffers to allow you to navigate backwards to edit multiple sections at once. Scrolling down though millions of lines of text to locate one piece of data can take a long time. So LargeEdit has many different ways to locate the data you want to see, such as, Go To Line, Line Range, and Find. These searches automatic load the next section until your search is found or the end of the file is reached. See Options for more information. |
